A double sided fireplace, also called a see-through, two-sided or 2-way fireplace, shows the fire from both sides. One fire can warm two rooms, or sit as a feature between an open-plan lounge and dining area. Our range includes wood and gas models, freestanding or built in:

  • Freestanding wood: double sided stoves from Forge Fires (D60 to D120), Heeta, Lacunza Verona, Chama Cristal, Flamm, Kratki and Northern Flame, with outputs from 11kW to 25kW.
  • Built-in wood: double sided and tunnel inserts from Forge Fires, Heeta, Lacunza, Chama, Flamm and Kratki, from 12kW to 25kW, for a wall that opens between two spaces.
  • Gas: double sided gas fireplaces from SAFire (Pureview Skyline, Pureview Horizon and Linear), Signi Fires (Element 80, Lumin and flueless double sided models) and Kratki (Leo 100 Tunnel).

Frequently asked questions:

  • What is a double sided fireplace? It has glass on two opposite sides, so the flames can be seen from both rooms. It is built into a wall between two spaces, or stands in an open area where it can be seen from both sides.
  • Wood or gas? A wood model gives real flames and suits larger spaces, and needs a flue. A gas model lights at the touch of a button, and flueless gas models need no chimney. Our gas fireplaces run on standard LPG, and natural gas is quoted on request.
  • How do I choose the right size? If the fireplace is open to two rooms, size it for the combined volume of both. Each product page lists the heat output, and most give a heating capacity in cubic metres.
  • Do I need a flue? Wood models need a flue, so check the flue size on each product page. Flueless gas models need no chimney but do need ventilation.
  • Do you install the fireplace? No. We supply the fireplace and can recommend installers. Gas connections must be done by a registered gas installer, in line with the manufacturer’s specifications and SANS regulations.
  • Are double sided fireplaces made to order? Contact us to enquire about product manufacturing lead times.
  • What is not included in the price? Prices exclude delivery, flue pipes, parts and installation.
